I'm up in Montclair near Redwood/Skyline Gate and I love walking around here and at Tilden, especially with the dogs. Not drinking, for me, is definitely about getting into the best possible physical shape. I never smoke unless I drink, so drinking is a double whammy for me and I don't feel like hiking for days afterwards.

I found the chatroom meetings to be the single biggest assistance in that regard, and it couldn't be easier, but there are plently of other resources that others have found most helpful such as the various mailing lists, books, etc. www.unhooked.com.
