Good move on putting Ning Network up in the connections box on the LR home page, who takes credit for that?

This strikes me as a sound solution, in that it clears up an ambiguity without silencing anybody.

Good work overall Marty. Makes sense to me. Adn, right, stuff that doesn't get watched or read will die away.

Marty - once again you have the best kung fu. I like this approach; thank you. Any blog reader should now understand the nature of forum posts and threads that follow.

My son Fred's music video featured in NY Times

My son Fred wrote the song that his band, Department of Eagles, plays in this AMAZING music video shown at the Museum of Modern Art in NY and featured in the online edition of the NY Times today. Watching this I was left speechless.

Check out this MP3 by a Very Important Person

My son Fred Nicolaus is half of the Department of Eagles indie rock band; their web site is departmentofeagles.com

They've just come out with a single, No One Does It Like You, that is pretty cool. They invite you to download it and spread it around.

Get it from the StereoGum website, http://www.stereogum.com/archives/005016.html

Yeah, it's a pretty cool video. It's seems to be going over big on YouTube. Had to watch the video a couple of times before appreciating the audio. That was like 10 months ago you posted it and ...everyone's on vacation? So is Fred one of us? Lorne

Congrats on the new book! I finished it this morning and it was a breath of fresh air. My first instinct was to get another copy and send it directly to my former therapist. Looking forward to many productive years of LifeRing ahead.

Nice comment there Mr Nicolaus but I think you're being careless because what makes you assume I even have a bike or had one or can even ride one?

Do you know anywhere where I can get your book Recovery by Choice in UK, or buy it as a download?

The first half of this year was a very intense brain work time. I finished my forthcoming book (tentative title, "Empowering Your Sober Self: The LifeRing Approach to Addiction Recovery" to be published next spring by Jossey-Bass. When I sent the manuscript off to the publisher, I was happy to switch gears and get into some long-deferred home improvement projects. I've posted some photos here of the main pieces: building a roof over an enclosed atrium, and building a bamboo fence to keep the dog out of the new vegetable garden. It's been wonderful to get my fingers off the keyboard and onto lumber, wire, dirt, drills, saws, shovels, picks, and paint brushes, among other things. And in the process I've lost a bunch of lbs and got back some muscle tone. I feel healthy and energetic. None of this would have happened if I were still drinking/drugging. Less than a month from today I'll have 16 years. Sobriety rocks!
