You are right on "the mask of command", I personally don't really like sharing all that much at F2F meetings, I try and make it easy on everyone, I always tell the group its okay to take a pass, jump in when you want.

Actually, I think that, even in so egalitarian and democratic a setup as LifeRing, one probably is less self-revealing as a convener than as an ordinary attendee -- what John Keegan called "the mask of command," even though no more "command" is go...
I think we all have to take some degree of responsibility for the availability of LiFeRoing F2F meetings in our communities. I'm comparitely lucky to live in northern California, but, still, I am awaiting that magic 6-month point where I can serve...
Not really, SG - since it was repenned for a completely different purpose and doesn't have the same contradictory messages that AA has all through it.
I'd suggest reading it again...not just scanning it. the essence is quite different.

- I've been focused on not drinking so haven't thought much more about this I'm afraid. It would be easier to start later in the spring I think - the weather is nicer... and now that the bus strike is over, it will be easier. Advertising is a trick though...

The first hurdle will be for one of us (preferably both of us!) to get 6 months under our belts. I wonder if Lifering would give us access to the group material without that? I'll ask around in the chat. John is pretty up on everything and so are Lou and Sylv

- I'm in the program so I suppose there's an element of treatment - therapy and support to not drink. But as for "treatment" that's in April. I'm not sure what that actually entails. The goal these days is just to keep me off the etho for as long as possible.
Brockville - too far for me for sure. There HAVE to be people here that would welcome a not-AA experience. If there is us, then there have to be more. Getting the word out is the issue... We could make fliers for the public library!

- I don't have the material for it nor do I have 6 months. Hell, I do good to get a 3 weeks... Could we not unofficially try to find people and meet and then work our way to 6 months I wonder? We might find someone with 6 months. I'm in a treatment centre but haven't gone through the intensive yet. Hopefully in April - that's the goal.

- Sorry - I didn't scroll up - I see you're in Merrickville! There briefly were meetings in Brockville but that was years ago... Maybe we could start one? There have to be people here that would welcome an alternative to AA...
