Lori, Hi. Journaling is such a good tool. I have only been journaling this way or on my main page where I blog. There I can see my progress and falls and learn from them also. I am about to return to the Relapse chapter in the workbook Recovery by Choice which I bought here at the Lifering Press at unhooked.com. there are a few others that are wiling to post on certain sections and give feedback.
Good for you on 3 days now. It doenst matter how much time we have, for both you and are are sober right now. I'm glad for both of us. I'm at day 14 (two weeks). I feel like I've been here many times. It's a comfortable place, and yet I know I need to be aware at all times and put on as much armor as I can find to resist that first drink. Thanks for including me on your journey. The Expo in Berkely was great!
C-ya soon :)

Lori, Thanks for your message. I'm sorry you "hurt" yourself when you chose to drink and then the lying, hiding and all that goes with drinking returned. Yes, I do understand. Abstaining from alcohol is not all there is to recovery. You say you feel great when you do not drink and yet you are at a loss as to why you drank after 1 1/2 years. Most alcoholics use to soothe whatever discomfort we are experiencing because it's so familiar to us, the quick fix. I encourage you to journal about what led up to your choice to drink. What was going on with you at the time? Frustrated? Angry? Lonley? Afraid? We need to be aware of what we are feeling in order to understand why we are reaching out to "soothe" our discomforts. Read some stuff over at unhooked.com. There's great tips and tools in the Toolbox over there and in general great inspirational readings. I plan on doing the same thing. I am now 12 days sober and I realize I just stay alert to prevent a relapse. Brush yourself off and begin again. You certainly did not lose your sober time. It was much better, right? Even though life throws us crap, it's always much better doing it while sober, I'm sure you must agree with that. Thanks for dropping by, feel free to anytime! Best wishes, hugs!
Hi Lori, Thanks for the "Friend" request. I live in Eugene, OR. Where do you live? It would be great to have more sober friends to hang with. I just got back from the LifeRing Expo that happened in Berkeley this weekend, Great people, great speakers, got Marty's new book, "Empowering your sober self" and just tired from all of the activities and flying. I am 12 days sober now and hope to stay on this sober path. I wish you well! Reply when you can. I certainly know the yo-yo thing, but this pattern can be broken. Believe in yourself and begin to take action. Surround yourself with people who are on the road of recovery. It all helps. I also post on LSR Safe list. It's great to be accountable and check in there. I met several at the Expo! What fun.
Be kind to you,
Linda
