When I first got sober, a friend told my parents that they should drink like they normally would and that it was my issue to deal with. She said I had to "learn to live sober in a world awash in alcohol." Gloria was right. I now live in Dublin whi...

Have changed the name of Yahoo Group to LifeRing-IRL per the request of the office in California. This is to make searching for LifeRing on the net an easier experience.

Got it, Dennis, and absolutely right on "more tools." Also, I just enjoy meeting people, at least online, from around the world.

Thanks for the information. I have been in several times when Fireman has his meetings. My main goal is to establish a LifeRing community on this island. It is not to take away from the international chat rooms or email blogs. It is to add a new d...

Dennis, James, we do have one late morning (US) weekday meeting that are late afternoon GMT. I know they're not on every weekday, and they may still be a bit early for everybody on your time, but it helps. And, our Saturady and Sunday morning onli...

I agree. The Brits are active in chat room as are some of the Irish folks. I especially want to get this started for people leaving places like St. Pat's. Since there are not any face to face meeting yet in other areas of Ireland. This may provide...

Way to go Dennis-I find that alot of the chat on LifeRing goes on in American time and we are all out of sink with each other, so ya it would be good to have an Irish site to go, but still hook up with the general lifering site and keep every one ...

About Me:
Sober 30 years in 2009. Have been in 12 step program whole time. I am finding more people who cannot do it this way. AA in Ireland is intolerant of "non-believers" and those who do not follow "the big book".. Where I came in it was much more positive and affirming.
Looking for?
Support and help in establishing a Lifering meeting in Ireland. Want to learn the techniques involved in this method. There is AA speak and I bet there is Lifering speak. I know it will be a different way of thinking and communicating.

Emerald Isle LifeRing Online Yahoo Group

I have established a yahoo group for Ireland. It is called LSR-IRL. Hope to get it posted on UNHOOKED.COM soon. We seem to have lots of interested people in Ireland but they are spread out. Although the meetings in Dublin are doing great, not everyone can travel to them for f2f support.

Thinking of doing a midweek check in on this list. It would be an "Over the Hump" check in. In America, Wednesdays are known as the over the hump day.

All are welcome! Consider joining. the more the merrier.

Hi Dennis-at work till 8pm-thats' the problem- means i can not get to many meetings-so it is great to have this web site to be able to dip into during the day or in the evenings. I find the evenings (around nine o'clock) to be my "mind bug" time when i start to think about having a drink. If i give in to it then of course all bets are off as one leads to two, to four-add nauseam! Then its onto the phone to work saying i wont be in the next day....you know the drill- I just wanted to type it out and publish this shit to remind myself of the "wonderful' life i am leaving behind. Will try send you an e-mail later with my phone number-my e-mail is benji1905@live.co.uk

hi dennis-thanks for your two blogs- don't get me wrong i love AA but i just felt a little bit bullied by a few people- also i felt that there is a real clic going in a lot of my local meetings and i just can not break into the "in" crowd.
I have a lot to learn about the Life Ring but i feel very excited now about the future. i will try to send you an e-mail but i am not great at computers-only went on line about two months ago!

Hi Dennis. Have just come acrosss LifeRing and would be really interested in meetings in Dublin. I have been sober for 4.5 years and attending AA in dublin because there is no alternative. However I am always having to adjust myself mentally in order to accept the AA path, whereas LifeRing seems to make much more sense to me. I would be interested in connecting up with you regarding meetings in Dublin. Maureen

Hey Dennis,
I've seen it too. There have been a few times when I was looking to chat about sobriety or see if anyone could use a shoulder and I was disappointed. When this happens, I try to draw the conversation back to recovery... sobriety... whatever you wanna call it.

It's good to have folks around who have some solid clean time, like you. We need guys like you to help keep the dialogue moving. Lifering is still in it's youth as an organization. Good participation by folks who are focused on recovery can help us to grow even further. You know what they say... You either grow or you go.

Thanks for showing up.

Hi Dennis

"Have no interest in being a chat room moderator. I have been disappointed in the rooms. No sober talk."

Well maybe a good reason to get involved.

I am a LifeRing Convenor in Northern CA, 97% of my group is court/CPS ordered, most just going thru the motions to meet their requirements, can be drugs or alcohol, big turnover in the group, so not really sure what to tell you, mosts folks are there because they could not handle the AA/NA, cross talk just happens, you just have to control it so everyone who wants to talk has a chance, my groups have averaged about 4-5 people. If you want more info, e-mail me, bobomohundro@yahoo.com

Take Care

Bob O.
