Best & Worst

As I was falling asleep last night, I was thinking of the best and worst things that have brought me to now. Not ready to write them down yet, but it's cathartic to at least let them roll around in my head for a bit.

Nah. This isn't AA. You don't get your days taken away. Take pride in the time that you went without, and, if you want, try to go longer next time. I don't know how things are going with my wife. I have put us in a dreadful position, as I look to begin doing time for my DUI exactly at the time that we are in the middle of moving. The judge offered to just throw me in jail for a month, but I managed to get into a "house arrest" situation. Provided, of course, that I have a house by then.

I have been so busy that it has been difficult to stay focused on anything. The good thing is that I haven't drank, and my cravings are getting fewer and more far between.

Hey, Beth B. Sorry, I took a week away from the computer. I've been so profoundly stressed out, lately, but I have stayed sober. My wife is having hard moments. She is liberated to now tell me exactly how she feels about the last few years of our marriage, and the financial trouble that my current legal difficulty has put us in.

I want her to be able to talk about this, and I want to listen to her, but JEEEZ, It's getting nearly impossible to endure a biweekly lecture about what a piece of shit I was when I was drinking.

I'm glad you have found the gym. If it weren't for the gym, I would have undoubtedly drank myself to death years ago. What kind of exercise are you doing?

hi beth 9 days can hardly dare believe it right now had an ok day, went to dentist then started to read a book, then my daughter visited in a bad mood. After she left i was shaking and felt awful, my nerves were gone. I can hardley believe the way i can be affected by other peoples moods. Anyway i had a cup of tea and a smoke and am calming down now. Am glad i didnt have a drink available because i would have drank it, but i didnt go to the shop to buy any so am patting myself on the back for doing well. Hope ypu are ok today. tc trish

I didn't even realize till today, we've been meeting for a little over a year now.

But in any case, you're always welcome to join us on Friday evenings. I won't be there next Friday, but that'll only be the 2nd that I've missed. :-)

Here's what I've learned for myself. I have to go to these functions where booze or drugs are present - wedding, Thanksgiving dinner, bar-b-que - otherwise its weird and friends/family think Im blowing them off and get offended. But I CHOOSE WHEN TO LEAVE. That's where my power of choice resides, and where my control is.

I usually find its around the time Uncle Joe slaps me on the ass asking "got any good tail lately?" or buddy Fred spits on me while telling the same story for the seventh time.
