I noticed the low level of activity on the Ning boards -- think this is a function of the word just not getting out... so today in a LifeRing meeting in Oakland I talked it up a little. Tonight I'm going to print up some URLs on ten-off Avery card stock and start passing them out. Granted, some people don't have home Internet access, but all the local libraries offer it. Would welcome ideas from others about passing along news about the availability of this terrific option.

One observation: the navigation & link structure on lifering.com and unhooked.com could use some rationalizing -- as a web developer, I recognize the signs of a "tale that grew in the telling" and could stand a design review on a top-down basis. Things shouldn't be so hard to find.

I'm glad to be here today. Attended my first LifeRing live meeting this morning. After decades trying to fly under false pretenses in some other groups, I felt a palpable difference and an enormous relief. Without getting into the details, I am incapable of belief on command, and I seem utterly immune to the pull of ritual -- this has been so all my long life. Looking forward to candor without dogmatism -- all that a "dress code for your mind" ever did for me was clue me into how to be habitually insincere. And, as Rocky the Flying Squirrel says, "That trick never works!" Yes, I'm verbose. If it gets out of hand, just give me a whack upside the head.

I love the comic!! That used to be me...really! I am finally sober. I haven't drank since New Years Eve2008. I am doing great...still there are very anxious moments and I still smoke cigs...gave them up for 20 years and when my late husband was diagnosed with Leukemia I thought I could just smoke socially...ha, ha, aha, the brain never forgets. I working in that now.
Has anyone heard of "Fla Detox Center"...wonderful place...You can check it on the net. They are light years ahead of everyone else.

Hello from the island!! This is my first day sober, and I am looking for a bit of advice, so if anyone has anything to help with the old.."I'm SO aggravated I need a drink " days, I would really appreciate it, as well, if I can help in anyway, if only to talk for a while, let's have at it!
