Support for staying clean and sober the LifeRing way

On January 19th 4 newcomers showed up for the 6pm meeting at Strategies for Change in which nobody was available to facillitate the meeting. I encouraged them to return next week, and apologized for the inconvience, does anyone know what happened here??

Hi Jackie,
Rojo here from the chat. I've been a convenor for Lifering in the past. I'm guessing you mean that the Convenor for this meeting didnt show up like they were supposed to? You had mentioned that 4 newcomers had shown up for this meeting & I guessing that you were there as well? Anyway, you 5 could have had a meeting anyway? a daily checkin/how was your week meeting. Since you have the cleantime, you would have been the right candidate for this? Maybe the Convenor for this meeting made an announcement the week before that there was not going to be a meetings that week. or maybe there was an emergancy?? Anyway, consider the fact that anytime there are 2 or more folks looking for a meetings, that a meeting can be conducted anyway. That way, folks can still get some support ya know. I know if I showed up for a meeting & the Convenor or Secretary was not there to conduct the meeting, I'd be pissed, but us folks with more cleantime need to step up & see what we can do to facilitate the meeting anyway. Maybe this was not available for you? I'd suggest you contact the Lifering head office and get in contact with whomever to find out what the deal was?

Take care,

Rick (rojo from the chat)

Meeting Changes in
Sacramento CA

The meeting at Strategies For Change in Sacramento is, well, changing. The meeting will now be on Monday evenings from 6-7 pm, starting on November 24. There's a new location too: 4441 Auburn Blvd. Suite E Sacramento. For more information contact convenor Jo by email. [11/20/08]

I know a little about the situation. I ran a few meetings on a fill-in basis in Sacramento's North Area. The person who ran that meeting, to her great credit, negotiated a location space and convened the meeting for over a year with very mixed results. Often no one attended. Often the only people there were "court" required. After the change of meeting site there were safety issues as the new location was poorly lit, especially the parking lot. I don't know if a consistent meeting is still happening in the North Sacramento Area.

There is a meeting that still happens in Sacramento on Thursday nights.

Thanks for all the reponses, actually I work for Strategies for change and was not able to facillitate the meeting as we have 3-5 groups going on at that time of the evening, am happy to see the meetings are still going on holidays included as we are open.
