Volunteers needed for LifeRing Expansion/Reorganiz ation Planning
At the 2009 LifeRing Congress/Expo on May 10, we talked about the future of LifeRing. The right organization structure for starting a small new organization is not necessarily the right one for the growing one we now. The founding generation is passing on the torch.
The Delegates at the 2009 Expo created an Expansion Committee to propose changes to LifeRing's management structure and propose a bylaws amendment to enact them. At the bottom of this note are some initial ideas that were circulated to Delegates before the Expo. At the end is the motion they agreed on. The committee has six months to come up with a first draft which would then be widely circulated. A final version would be presented at the 2010 Congress/Expo.
We need volunteers to be on that committee or to otherwise provide input or support. We would like that pool of volunteers to represent a wide a swath of LifeRing experience as possible.
What's involved? The discussions would mostly be on line or via e-mail. The requirements are a solid concern for the future of LifeRing, plenty of practical thinking, clear writing to capture those thoughts, and the willingness to sign up for this important but not-quite-fully- defined commitment. The committee is just forming. It has not yet met. The actual process has yet to be worked out.
If you would like to be a part of this, please send you name to the Service Center at service@lifering. org or call us at (510) 763-0779 or toll-free at 1-800-811-4142 .
Thanks.
